Greensboro Economic Development Alliance Announces
Stanely Frank Lifetime Achievement Award Winners
March 3, 2009 (Greensboro, NC) - Greensboro Economic Development Alliance (GEDA) awarded the Stanley Frank Lifetime Achievement Award today at their annual investor breakfast to two prominent Greensboro leaders. Dr. Donald Cameron, Guilford Technical Community College President and Edward “Ted” Johnson, Piedmont Triad International Airport Authority Executive Director.
The Stanley Frank Lifetime Achievement Award is presented annually to members of the community who have given many years of dedicated service in support of building a better Greensboro and Guilford County. The award’s namesake, Stanley Frank, was a longtime benefactor and champion of Greensboro. He was a trustee of Guilford College and believed in the importance of education for the future of the community. The Stanley Frank Award has been given by Greensboro Economic Development Alliance since 2004.
The 2009 recipients have both had a long-term vision for growth and prosperity in Greensboro and Guilford County. They have been crucial partners for new business recruitment and business expansion projects and have helped GEDA tell Greensboro’s compelling story to interested companies and consultants. They have provided the kind of leadership for their organizations and for the community that truly propels Guilford County forward and gives the area a host of competitive advantages.
Dr. Donald Cameron has served as President of Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) since 1991 where he has been a progressive force in education and streamlined the relationship between the college and the business community.
Ted Johnson has served as the Executive Director of the Piedmont Triad International Airport Authority (PTIA) since 1993. During his tenure, he has supervised massive improvements to the airport terminal and to the runway and road system in preparation for the FedEx Express hub.
GEDA President, Dan Lynch commented, “These men have been essential in bringing many of our new companies to Greensboro and Guilford County. They have provided consistent, forward-looking leadership at GTCC and at PTIA for well over a decade. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their time and focus on the importance of economic development.”
